Lydia

Our girl Lydia joined the Triumph Fitness Family in December of 2019, and has completed a whopping 243 workouts to date. Lydia attends classes five days a week, and her favorite times to be in the studio are either 9am or 12 noon, but not on Saturdays.

Lydia is a happily retired teacher, and LOVES Mardi Gras, LSU and happy hour. Her favorite workout station is Member’s Choice, but we think she secretly loves all things cardio, especially Circuit Thursday. Ha!

Lydia is always full of life, brings excitement to the studio, an inspiration to all members, especially the AARP members, and gives the coaches a run for their money. We are so proud to have her as part of our Triumph Family!

I will tell you about my training over the last few months during the pandemic. During my lunch breaks at work, I worked out because that’s what fits my busy schedule as a busy mom of three beautiful girls. Once the pandemic started, I started teleworking like many others while schooling three beautiful girls. 

With the many online, on-demand(zoom) options provided by Triumph, I was still able to train with my trainer weekly and work out at home truly at my schedule, which varied from the morning, noon, or night. 

I have been a member at Triumph for two years, and even transitioning to mainly virtual workouts, I continually feel pushed (in the right way) with every activity💙

Mary

Mary comes to us all the way from Boston, Massachusetts.  Yes, you read that right!  Mary’s first class with Triumph was on April 27, 2020.  She is quickly approaching her one-year anniversary!

You may ask how does Mary get her workouts in?  Well, she is one of our tried-and-true Zoom members.  Mary Zooms in from the comfort of her own home.  She has her own set of dumbbells, and just received her very own 20-pound sand bell to use as well.  Talk about dedication!  Mary is a true example of what making a commitment to her health and wellness, and sticking to it looks like. 

After doing a little research, we have discovered that Mary has attended 237 classes!  Whoa!  Talk about AMAZING!!!  Mary is definitely #triumphstrong!  We are so grateful to have Mary as a part of our Triumph Fitness Family!

I’m 64 years young and have worked as an Accounts Receivable Specialist with a local Architectural firm since 1992. 

I first walked into Triumph Fitness for a Zumba class in January 2019 even though I’m really not a fan, but I made one of the hardest decisions to walk through that door. After that class, Jennifer explained all of the other classes available and I jumped right in not knowing the difference between a burpee and a med ball Russian twist! Classes are always challenging and moves can be modified to meet my level of mobility and physical strength.  

I was wearing a size 14 then and I’m now wearing a size 10 and even an occasional 8.  

My energy level is high and I currently don’t take any prescription medications. 

I’m much more confident about my health journey and have become stronger, both physically and especially emotionally. I actually look forward to working out and if I miss a couple of days, I’m itching to get back. If I have a bad day, I can always count on a better mood after a good workout. Jennifer and Brett always believed in me and made me believe in myself. 

Best advice I can give is you’re never too old to start taking care of yourself. You’re worth making an investment in your health, rather than paying for doctor visits and prescriptions. 

My favorite quote is from Shawshank Redemption… “Get busy living or get busy dying.” You either spend your life going through the motions and waiting around for something to happen, or you make something happen for yourself.  

One of my favorite workout songs is Boom Boom Pow by The Black Eye Peas.

My name is Lisa and I am a 51 year old married mother of two and Underwriter at Travelers. 

I joined Triumph Fitness in October of this year because I was struggling with my health and weight. I knew I needed to find a way to get back on track. After only a few weeks of working out I can feel my energy levels returning. I have also noticed an increase in my strength and flexibility. The Triumph Fitness program has helped me change my vision of my future self. I am ready to stop hiding from the world. I am now starting to envision myself as stronger and more confident.

My name is Courtney Breaux from Houma. I am a mother of 6 and live a very very busy life. 

I stumbled across Triumph Fitness on FB one day. I watched an interview @Jennifer Maraist was doing and I was drawn in. 

I joined this tribe right then and there , it’s been 3 years now and I’m still clinging to this group with my Kong fu grip. What keeps me here is the love and support of the fearless leader Jennifer. She cares about her clients and makes sure her coaching is strong enough to kick you in the pants when you need it but kind enough to pick you up when your down. Belonging to this tribe Is having someone always in your corner no matter what season of life you’re going through. But it really doesn’t just stop at the coaches it’s everyone who belongs to this group. You will always have support and always have someone holding you accountable. And even on days you just can’t seem to get it together someone will be right by your side. 

All this every single bit of it, accountability, support, workouts, nutrition, mindset chats, Establishing goals, life goals, any and everything you can think of to change your life in a POSITIVE WAY can all be done online. All in the comforts of your home and even from miles away. 

I love my tribe and even though i myself am miles away from Triumph Fitness and the amazing coaches I never feel left out.

⭐️ My health journey started about 2 years ago with the help of Courtney, whom introduced me to Jen! With pure determination, motivation & education from Jen, I reached many wellness goals I had set for myself, but like they say “life happens”! As a wife and mom of 3 boys and 1 girl money became tight I had to start a full time job! Which was a big deal for me because I hadn’t worked in 7 years! So with that, my exercise and eating habits were turned upside down! I lose total care about myself. After one year of trying to get back into the healthy routinn I just couldn’t stay on track, so in April of this year I finally reached out to Jen knowing that she could give me the push that I needed to get my motivation back! After speaking with Jen and learning about everything Triumph Fitness offered I knew this is what I needed! With me living an hour away from the gym, the Zoom workouts and mindset chats is just what I was looking for and knowing Jen was there to guide me just made me LOVE Triumph Fitness even more! I’m looking forward to building up myself was well as building relationships in this wonderful community! 🔥

⭐️“Hi I’m Sarah! I’m 25 and I’m currently a Pharmacy school student (second year) woooop woooop! 

I started TF when they opened. I had previously trained with Jennifer and Brett for a few years. I joined TF because I felt an immediate connection to the programming and the coaches. I’ve been a member of many gyms before starting TF, but felt like I was nothing other than a number. I didn’t have the one on one connection to the coaches there that I have now. TF is more than a gym, it’s a family and it really shows how much the coaches care about each and every one of their members. 

I have maintained my weight while still being able to tone up my muscles

I feel absolutely fantastic. Since starting TF, I am in the best mental and physical state that I have ever been in. 

the program for me mainly boosted my mental health. I have never struggled with my weight, so maintaining it is just a plus. Working out for me is a stress reliever and a way to boost my confidence. It helps me to stay positive. At the end of the day when my workout is complete, I leave the gym feeling great and ready to tackle on the rest of the day with confidence and a free mind.💙🔥

⭐️ So it all began with a phone call, I never knew how much it would change my life. After having a partial thyroidectomy, my sudden weight gain sent me to a place I never imagined. For the first time I was clueless about how to care for myself, health and body. I was truly unhappy, Nothing was working. I was on the verge of giving up.

Jennifer was amazing from the first visit, she could see straight off, that I would be a hard case. Triumph has been an extended family for me. There is no judgement only support and encouragement. It is so much more then a Gym. At triumph they are truly committed to your well being, mind, health, body and soul.

When Covid Started that did not stop them from keeping us fit. They started with the zoom classes, which are amazing. You have the ability to go in to the gym or stay home and work out. They will never give up on you, which constantly pushes me to try harder, do one more then I thought I had in me. Even if you need a break, or have a medical condition, they won’t forgot you.

Jennifer was there every step through my knee surgery recently, checking up on me, giving me alternative exercises so I could still participate and keep my arm and core strength up. At triumph they have an amazing assortment of classes, I am definitely the strongest I have ever been Mentally and Physically. It has given me so much confidence in my everyday life, knowing I have a whole tribe to support me. Making the choice to join Triumph was not only good for my health, but also the best choice of my life.  This has been a crazy year of inconsistency, one thing has remained the same, the Tribe at Triumph is there, holding you accountable and checking up on you!! Nothing can keep us apart!!

⭐️ I have been with triumph fitness for 2 years and it has been amazing! I was not local to Louisiana when I was first introduced to Jen and triumph fitness so I wasn’t even sure how it would work but I was willing to give it a shot. I started in the online group, we were provided recorded workouts to follow which is great because who really knows what to do when they go into a gym! The online group and Jen constantly checked in on each other to make sure we were always held accountable. Jen and Brett not only focus on exercise but mindset and nutrition as well, which only enhances the progress you can make on this program. Jen is always there to help, encourage, and motivate and never judges if you fall off the wagon!!! Not only was all that great but they found a way to take it to the next level with live zoom workouts!! I found this to be even better because I actually had Jen there on the screen watching me work out and coaching me! It is just another level of accountability!! This makes me more motivated to get my workouts in.

We have built a community of people who are not local who can still come together to work out and motivate each other and that is such an amazing thing! They found a way to stay open during the pandemic and to stay relevant with the every changing world we live in! All in all Jenn, Brett, and the whole triumph fitness family had been amazing and I couldn’t ask for more!! 🔥

⭐️“I am a 58 year old Wife, Mother of three beautiful young women and Grandmother of five of the most precious grandchildren. I have been with Triumph Fitness since they opened their doors and I LOVE IT!!! Jennifer and Brett are amazing and really know how to motivate us. I always told Brett that I wanted “Guns” 💪🏼💪🏼 and I think I have accomplished that. LOL! Triumph Fitness is not only a Fitness Studio, it is a Family and and I am so grateful for Jennifer and Brett for holding us all together through this very crazy time in our lives. Since I have begun working out I am stronger and feel so much better everyday. My biggest obstacle is FOOD! Once I get my mind set I know I can overcome that obstacle and I have been working with Jennifer and our Tighten Up group to help me. I work in Accounting which is very stressful at times but making sure that I get that workout in really resets my mindset. ⭐️ I’ve tried other gyms in the past, but found that my biggest issue was sticking with it. Triumph fitness as provided me with a fitness routine that is fun, easy to stick to, and helps me reach my fitness goals. I also love the flexibility of the zoom classes and teachable workouts so I can still get a great workout in even if I can’t make it into the studio.

⭐️ I joined Triumph Fitness after my freshmen year of college. After finishing three years of cross country in High School, I wanted to continue staying active. In college, I went to the gym with an unstructured routine. After being apart of a team and held accountable in high school, I needed a group or program to do the same. My mom brought me to Triumph and I was sold on the sense of community and accountability between the members and the overflowing positivity from the coaches. 

During the school year I transitioned to the online program and still kept my weekly workouts. The short, high tempo 20 min workouts allowed me to keep my fitness goals and maintain work and class. Ms. Jen sends me messages checking in on my progress and helping me develop my monthly goals. Amid the Coronavirus, I moved back home and continued the online program. This time with my mom, we continued our workouts in a different environment. We both pushed one another and still grew during this strange time.

Even though the past year of my life has been been a roller coaster, Triumph has been a part of my life through the various programs available. The different formats still consistently help me achieve my fitness goals and keep me motivated. For anyone that is a busybody, Triumph Fitness fits into your lifestyle and schedule! 🔥

⭐️I started at Triumph in January of this year. I realized I was getting older and wanted to get healthy! I tried to go to a regular gym and workout, but I did not maintain my motivation. I hated going, so like so many I paid and did not go. At the end of last year I was like “Amy you got to do something!” Jennifer’s posts were showing up on my news feed on FB so I sent her a text to see what it was all about. I have known Jennifer since college as we were roommates, so I trusted her and what she was doing for people like me.  

Even then, I annoyed her will a million questions. She told me to come on and try out a class which I did. It was so hard. I mean I hated her the next few days after that first class. Every time I went to the bathroom; walked up/down stairs; rose after sitting a while; I internally and externally swore. Still, I was hooked. I loved feeling sore and sweating so much my ponytail was dripping as I am a sweater. So, I made myself a pact. I have to go at least two times a week but will try at least three times. 

In regards to the inches and weight loss, a wise woman (Jennifer) told me I need to not stress on the number on the scale. I have not weighed myself or measured myself since I started. I just go on how I feel. 

Since I started working out regularly it has really changed my mood. I am sleeping better, feel better about myself and feel accomplished daily. 💙🔥

⭐️ When I joined Triumph Fitness I was lost in my health journey. I was scared of “gyms” and hated working out. When I went to the gym I felt like everyone looked at me and judged me for what I couldn’t do. I would find a piece of equipment do my workout and leave. When I joined Triumph found everything I needed to conquer my fitness journey and my fears. My favorite part of triumph is the people. My favorite part of the gym is there are no machines. What there is are people who become your tribe and guide you to be the best you you can be. Jennifer made me a morning person and coached me by showing me how to use form to build muscle. I started triumph when it was offered as a free week of online workouts. I could do the workouts anywhere. I even did them in my classroom during lunch a few times. I am now back to doing online workouts combined with the gym. Although I prefer the gym. I love the option of having online workouts, zoom workouts, or the gym so that when I’m busy I can still have time to workout. 🔥

⭐️ I am a 40 year old mom of 1 who is a production designer & photography assistant.

MY GIRL Angela Celino told me about Triumph Fitness. I was feeling pretty low about myself and I knew I needed a change. so Ang told me about This crazy girl named Jennifer who was awesome and would push me passed my limits. 

Now I feel Confident that I can do the harder classes or push myself to do more reps. I want to do more, I want to push my body more. I also know when I feel down or lost or just had it, my Tribe is there to pick me back up!

I love this program, I love this Tribe. I have re-connected with some of the most amazing friends I have had for years, but we have been closer thru seeing each other again and being in this tribe together. ⭐️Ever since I stepped foot into Triumph Fitness I have felt so welcomed not just by Jennifer and Brett but everyone. I was so nervous for my first class but my mind was changed quickly! When we had to switch to virtual I lost some of the motivation I had, but Jennifer stayed on me and made sure I showed up for the backyard workouts. Hard to skip out on a workout when Jennifer is your neighbor! !! So excited to keep going on my health and fitness journey!!💙🔥

⭐️ Seven months ago I was at a football party with some friends when I heard my friend talking about how much she loves Triumph Fitness. I knew Jenn and Brett from another gym and remember how much I enjoyed their TRX training. So the next class … which was a HIIT class, I went with my friend to try out. I have been a member since that day. I love the small group trainings and I love the friends I have made along the way. Jenn and Brett have a way of making you feel comfortable and they reach you at a personal level. You aren’t just a member, they take a personal interest in helping you on your journey. When the gym shut down due to Covid 19, I just assumed I wouldn’t be working out for awhile because virtual training through Zoom, had me completely out of my comfort zone. But Jenn was amazing and the virtual classes were as close as you could get to being in the actual studio.  

In these last few months, I feel stronger both mentally and physically. I look forward to going to class to not only feel better but to have fun and see my new Triumph tribe! 🔥

⭐️I was 50 and suddenly single when I met Jennifer and Brett. I didn’t think at 50 you could make new friends, but boy was I wrong. Some of my best friendships have come from total strangers that I have met at Triumph Fitness. Even though some of us only talk in passing from one class to another, I know that this is my tribe and if I need they they are there. 

Now that I’m 55 I am doing exercises I never knew I could do. I can even keep up with the younger ones. I have also learned from Jennifer’s nutrition class how to eat healthier. Also, doing yoga is so important for your mind, body and soul.

⭐️“I am a 43 year old mom of 3 who teaches preschool. I started Triumph Fitness just over a year ago. A friend of mine who was on her own fitness journey is a member there. I wanted to support her and see what Triumph was about for her with no intention whatsoever to join. 

I went to a Saturday class with her and was immediately hooked. I signed up after that one class. I am a person who struggles with change and always feels out of my comfort zone. As soon as I walked in, I felt welcomed by not only Jennifer but the whole tribe. The class itself was so much fun! It was constantly changing and the music was great. I felt like I worked out for 10 minutes when in reality it was a 45 min to an hour class. A year later and I’m still here! 

My greatest achievement here is not the weight that I lost or the toning that took place but it was the healthy mindset that Jenn and Brett have worked on with me. A healthy mindset is more important to them than losing a few pounds. They want you right in the head first! I’m in a much better place with liking who I am and how I look. I no longer get on a scale every morning and allow a scale to dictate my day. I even allow myself to eat some carbs! Lol … which is huge for me!  

Jenn, Brett, and the friends that I have made at Triumph have become my family and are always so supportive on my blah days. I will never forget when Jenn told me to start saying “God did this for me not to me” when I was dealing with some personal issues. They ALWAYS see what I can’t see when I’m blinded by hardships and for that I will forever be grateful to Triumph Fitness. I have found my tribe for life.”🔥

⭐️I am a very social person, so the idea of getting fit with a group of fun people is much more appealing than trying to do it on my own. I really like how Triumph focuses not just on physical fitness but on mental fitness as well, encouraging a positive mindset and offering guidance on how to achieve it. They make exercising a “want to” rather than a “have to” for me (well, most of the time anyway), and I feel so blessed to be a part of the Triumph Tribe.🔥

⭐️“I am 62 years old, married to Steve, mom of four, grandmother of six, and a preschool teacher. 

I joined Triumph Fitness in August 2018 when I was looking for something to challenge me in my health and fitness goals. I needed someone or something to push me past my self-imposed limits. I found that at Triumph with Jennifer and Brett.  

As soon as I walked in, I felt welcomed and loved the small group atmosphere with individual attention. Jennifer and Brett both know how to motivate you to work to your ability. As I am a little competitive, I loved working out in a group that would challenge me to work harder.  

I look forward to my early morning workouts as it gives me the energy for the rest of the day, especially in the classroom with my four year olds. Jenn’s mindset chats helped me realize the scale is not the only way to measure your fitness. The way you feel and the way your clothes fit are just as important. That was a hard thing for me as I always thought the number on the scale was the most important measurement. 

Having to transition this month to virtual workouts, I have had to deepen my commitment to working out from home. Jennifer and Brett hold me accountable to myself and to them to continue to work hard.

😊I joined the Triumph Exclusive group in Jan 2019. For months, I noticed that Cristina was posting about her 20 minute workouts. I messaged her about it since I was struggling to make it to the gym in between work and kids activities. I love how the new workouts are sent to you each week and can be completed anytime. Also 20 minutes is the perfect amount of time to keep my kids entertained while I get my workout in.

⭐️I am a married 49-year-old with three amazing children ages 19,16 and 12. I am an RN and I work at Ochsner as a Nurse Navigator for Orthopedic surgery. I am currently in school pursing my RN to BSN and I will finish and graduate this Summer. I decided to join Triumph in January of 2019 to get healthier, stronger and in better shape. Since joining and going to classes regularly I fit and feel better in my clothes. I have more energy throughout my day which helps with my busy schedule. I sleep better and overall, I am a happier more confident person. Triumph fitness is a family that really cares and pushes each other to reach our goals. This program has given me the drive to be a better person for myself, family and friends. I wake up and look forward to starting my day off with a great workout class with friends that support and root for each other. I have changed my lifestyle to live healthier, continue to get stronger physically and emotionally and I love how I feel! My best advice for someone just starting out is to take it one day at time, stay hydrated and eat healthy. I was always rushing to get home to fix dinner and tend to things around the house. I also had no guidance on proper eating habits.  Finding Triumph Fitness and the Triumph online Exclusive program gave me all the skills I needed. I was taught how to meal prep, eat healthier and given a resource to exercise when it’s convenient for me. I can come home, put my dinner to cook and get my workout done with guidance and step by step instructions following a daily video and pdf. ⭐️I joined Triumph Fitness 10 months ago when they were running the 1 free week special. I immediately fell in love with the TF environment. The small class setting, encouragement from the trainers, and accountability factor has really kept me consistently attending class, which has never happened for me for any significant length of time. I have encountered a few minor health issues along the way, and instead of quitting like I would have done in the past, I receive encouragement and improvised moves to make me comfortable and successful during class. You see their mindset change from “oh this is hard” to “omg I did it!” Supporting others while watching them reach their personal goals gives me hope and keeps me motivated to keep showing up! Triumph Fitness is not just a gym to me—it has become a haven for the bad days and a bonus to the end of each good day. No matter the mood I am in on my way there the moment I enter the doors I am greeted with a positive energy. Even when I am just not motivated to workout once I get there it all changes. The people are amazing to workout with, the coaches are fantastic, and the workouts are never boring. I love that it’s not just a place you go in, workout and leave. They care about your fitness of course, but they also care about your mindset and knowing that you are okay and thriving in other aspects of your life. Victories inside and outside of the gym are celebrated and struggles are met with compassion and help. I could go on and on obviously, but I am truly grateful for everyone who makes up Triumph Fitness! It has reunited my passion for fitness and helped me focus on a positive mindset in life—It is my therapy. 🔥

⭐️ I started working with the Triumph Fitness staff in May 2016. I was 12 weeks postpartum from a bedrest pregnancy. Although I was proud to deliver my second baby to term, I found myself 50 pounds heavier with absolutely no strength. The moment that pushed me to seek help was the complete inability to stand up unassisted from a laying position at only 28 years old. I needed a trainer. I needed serious direction and help. I was overwhelmed and wasn’t sure where to start. That’s where Triumph Fitness came in and helped changed my life.

Today, I almost can’t recognize myself. It is so much more than weight loss or inches. Even before my pregnancy I was never an active person. I went from unable to do 1 push up on my knees to cranking out 10+ pushups on my toes. Unable to do a 10 second plank to doing 2 minute planks. From 5lb dumbbells to 25lb+ . Every single week at Triumph Fitness, I learn that my body can do amazing things. Although I am going into my fourth year with this group, I still see constant growth. And I still walk away amazed from every workout. Today I feel confident, strong, and not afraid to walk into a gym to use equipment. Before Triumph Fitness I would have just used a treadmill and restricted calories to obsess on the scale, but today it’s about growth and grace.🔥

⭐️I absolutely LOVE the Exclusive! The workouts are so convenient to do in your own home. No equipment needed. The best part, they’re only 20 minutes long. That’s super important for me considering I’m away from home 12 hours a day. I don’t have to worry about dropping my son off at another daycare to go to the gym to get my workouts in. He’s with me the whole time and actually participants with me most of the time. My ultimate favorite part of the Exclusive is the Zoom calls. They are so encouraging and uplifting. Once a week, I’m invited to join this amazing group of women who have the same struggles and success as I do. We build each other up and hold each other accountable. They are my tribe!🔥

After that 1st class I thought ‘what did I get myself into?’ Today, I ask myself, ‘what took you so long to start?’ The simple goals of improved health, increased strength, and being challenged continue to be attained. ⭐️ I have been a member of Triumph for over 2 years! My dad and sister had trained with Jennifer & Brett for years, but they couldn’t convince me to try until the new studio opened in 2017. The welcoming atmosphere hooked me from the start, and I kept coming back. I bought a class pass then eventually got a full membership. I love that they focus not just on exercise but on mindset and nutrition as well. With their guidance I was able to safely train throughout my pregnancy (with doctor approval).
